Blenheim Palace was built between 1705 and 1722. The land and house were given to John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough. He was given this thank you because he led the army to defeat the French and Bavarians in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. Wow, what a gift! It is the only country house in England, that doesn't belong to royalty or the church, that is called a palace. It is a palace, that's for sure! |
| John Churchill was an ancestor to Winston Churchill. The Churchill we know and love was born in this Palace. His Uncle(older brother of his father) was the Duke of Marlborough at the time. It is still owned by the current Duke of Marlborough today. |
The day started out quite grey, but it soon lightened up!
| He also proposed to his wife here. |

| So excited to explore the secret garden! |
| This girl always stops to smell the roses, I hope she never changes! |

Fun fact: This family is also related to Princess Diana. Her last name was Spencer and at one point in the timeline of Dukes, the Spencer family and the Churchills were combined. Winston Spencer-Churchill(his real last name!) |

| I always wonder about doors like this... |
Some photos of the inside:
| Winston Churchill- love it! |
| This is the room where he was born. |
| This is a courting sofa. The couple would sit on the large part and their chaperone would sit on the small part while they visited. The couple could have little privacy. I think we might invest in one of these. One more year until my oldest can date! |
| This is one end of a very long room called the Long Library. Love it! |
